Everyone has their own preference when it comes to mode of transportation while travelling. Some prefer the speed of flights while others like the comfort (and affordability) of trains or buses. But a bike is more often than not, the best way to travel for a few reasons which are as follows:
1) Bikers travel light
When you are as devoid of space as bikers are, you learn the art of packing luggage practically. Anything that isn’t of vital importance, or even something that may come in use, is immediately discarded until the luggage comprises only of essentials.
2) It’s economical
The one wonderful advantage of riding bikes that no one can disagree with is the high fuel economy they give you. The amount of fuel you need to power your bike is tiny compared to what cars need. Even big bikes like a Royal Enfield or even a Harley-Davidson consume much lesser fuel as compared to most cars.
3) Bikes put you in touch with nature
Travelling by flights, trains or buses puts you smack in the middle of a bunch of people who unapologetically rob you off any peace and personal space, which is exactly what I want to avoid when I’m going on a holiday. Also, riding a bike makes you experience nature as it whizzes past you whereas in a car, where it’s more like your observing it through a window.
4) Bikes let you be spontaneous
If you want to go somewhere by flight, train or bus you’re entirely dependent on the availability of tickets and the time schedule followed by them. On a bike however, you are entirely in charge of your travel plans and you can go when you want, where you want and through whichever route you want.
5) Bikes make the journey more important than the destination
How many times has it happened that you visited a place and it didn’t live up to your expectations? Such happenings make us regret wasting our holiday on a trip, but such a thing will never happen to a biker. For bikers, the journey is as (if not more) important than the destination and even if the destination sucks, the journey is at least more than worth it.
