Imagine travelling solo or with friends and reaching your destination, what next? You go around the place and visit all the tourist hotspots (Obviously) and then you come back to your hotel and rejuvenate for the next day’s plans. This is what most of us do and I think there is still a way for us to do the same things a little differently, instead of taking a cab or some prepaid pick-up and drop service why not ride to all the places you want to visit on your own? Why not rent a bike or a scooter and ride around your destination? Well, that is precisely the question that we’re going to answer in this article.
Let’s Pro/Con renting a bike while traveling so that you can give the thought of bike rentals some serious consideration,
There are a few prerequisite criteria that you need to fulfill before you can rent a motorbike/scooter, theses include :
– Having a Driving License
– Actually knowing how to ride, so that you can traverse through whatever terrain you find yourself riding on safely
– And other things as per the policies of the bike rental company
Then there’s always the post-ride check-up of your ride to make sure that it is still in the same condition that it was given to you in. I know it doesn’t seem important right now but when you find yourself in this situation, you will surely be praying that there are no extra costs added to the original rent because of your (mis)adventures.
-Having a 180 degree view of your destination instead of a TV like limited view from the window of a car.
-Having the flexibility to reshuffle your itinerary and adding or removing places to visit and more importantly, being able to explore, take the road less traveled.
-Being able to stop wherever you want, which could be an interesting looking cafe or for a photo opp at a street corner which you think would be an amazing background.
-Being able to take in the culture of wherever you are more actively by interacting with the locals.
-Coming back to your hotel room actually feeling like you’ve been traveling and not sleepy because of all the naps you’ve been taking in the cab.
In the end, I would like to leave you with this, travelling by motorbikes is awesome, but, it can get dangerous if you are inexperienced. To me personally, riding motorbikes in a place that I’ve never been to before feels like an adventure. In other words, the high risk/reward ratio in my case is clearly tipping in favor of travelling by motorbikes but if you think you’re not ready or feel like it’d get a little too intense for you, don’t force yourself because the whole point of renting a motorbike while travelling is the freedom and adventure that it offers and if you know that you won’t be able to feel that way then it is better for you to choose any other mode of transportation and that, is 100% okay because guess what? Travelling in itself is the greatest adventure known to man.
