This week’s Rider Stories features Archana and Vidur, who are travelers and story-tellers. The duo had individually traveled extensively for years and together they had traveled for more than a year. This fun-loving couple wanted to share their stories, thousands of pictures they had on their phone, stories of places they had traveled to and stories of all the amazing and interesting people they met on their journeys. Archana and Vidur started with posting 1 or 2 pics on Instagram and when they noticed that people asked them about the stories behind those pictures, they started posting more pictures.

The response they received on their own pictures and the response they got from the audience inspired them to become Travel bloggers. The duo claims that the identifiable USP of their travel blogs is “We focus more on offbeat travel destinations. We usually do not cover mainstream, tourist destinations that attract hordes of crowds but focus on lesser known or serene locations. Also, we generally don’t put up edited pictures on our blogs so that readers get an actual image of the places we travel to!”

Archana and Vidur had been to Ladakh and they had a surreal experience. The couple shared an interesting and memorable incident which took place during their trip. “Our host at Hotel The Kargil, Mr. Zaheer took us to an abandoned village called Hunderman. During the last Indo Pak war, the villagers had fled this border village, leaving behind all their belongings. Since then the villagers haven’t returned and now their homes have been turned into a museum. On the way to Hunderman, at a certain viewpoint, we saw Pakistani Rangers posted along the border. Through our binoculars, we could see them waving at us. On the mountain cliffs, we saw Pakistani and Indian bunkers with the respective flags fluttering high above us. We had never experienced something as thrilling as this and it’s the best moment of our trip.”

Archana and Vidur shared their most unusual experience during a trip with us. During their trip to Pahalgam, they had planned to stay in the hotel in the city market and explore the nearby areas. On their way, they happened to meet their friends who worked at a mountaineering institute. Over chai and samosas, they were invited to camp at Aru valley and stay with them. The adventure-loving couple quickly grabbed the offer, checked out of the hotel and drove to explore the awe-inspiring Aru Valley. Archana adds, “Over the next day, we camped, danced around bonfires, indulged in stargazing, and experienced midnight fishing as well!  A normal holiday turned into an adventurous camping experience and something we won’t forget for a long time.”

This travel blogger duo loves to travel and they have a lot of
destinations in their travel bucket list. “We have upcoming trips to Wayanad, Mysore, Kabini, Coorg, Hassan, Sirsi, Goa, Hampi, Rameshwaram and Kodaikanal planned for this year!”, they added excitedly. Archana and Vidur are bike fanatics and they have traveled extensively on two wheels. According to them, Kargil, Hunderman, Spiti, and Chitkul are some of the best biking destinations in the northern states of India. In South, the best destinations include Bison Valley, Cardamom Hills, Kaginahare, Sagar, Poombarai. In the North East, there are Pelling, Ravangla, Thikshey, Khasi Hills, Garo Hills, Jaintia Hills and many more!!

Safety is the first priority for the travel blogger couple. They feel that the single most important tip is to ALWAYS wear a helmet. Both the rider as well as the pillion needs to wear a helmet to ensure safety. Archana and Vidur recommend a full-face helmet from a good international brand. For the travel buffs, the couple advises investing in good riding gear such as jackets, gloves, pants, guards, and shoes. Apart from this, they feel that the rules of the road should be respected. The couple added, “We see so many youngsters riding high-powered bikes without knowing how to control them and that’s a recipe for disaster. Ride responsibly and in your limits.”
