The automotive sector has undergone rapid change in the last couple of decades. The change has been really apparent in cars as you can tell by Tesla’s immense popularity. Motorcycles, on the other hand, haven’t undergone any changes that can be termed as radical (with the exception of a few models like the Ninja H2) and most of the advancement in this sector has come in the form of electronic aids and improved engine technology. That’s all changing now though as these 5 insanely futuristic motorcycles can demonstrate.
Even though a 100 units of this motorcycle have been made and sold, it’s still hard to believe that such a thing exists today. Designed by Daniel Simon who is best known for his works on Tron’s Legacy Light Cycles and Oblivion’s Bubbleship, the Lotus C-01 is the embodiment of what futuristic motorcycles should look like. It is a combination of state of the art racing technology and an amazing futuristic look.
The Johammer J1 looks less like a motorcycle out of a sci-fi movie and more like one that was created in the studios of Disney or Pixar for the next animated feature. With its bug-eyed headlamps and antenna-like mirrors, it isn’t what you’d call stunning, but it does have a certain charm to it. The J1 is an electric motorcycle that can travel up to 125 miles on a single full charge and with a top speed of 75 mph, it has sufficient speed to take you wherever you want to be in a hurry.
Minimalism seems to be all the rage in design circles these days, but not everyone can quite get it right. Bandit9, though, aren’t one of those people. They have blended minimalism with what can only described as an artist’s impression of a chrome art installation that belongs in a billionaire’s home. You can’t find a single trace of the Honda Supersport 125 on which the ‘L’ is based, and that gorgeous engine cover looks like it was borrowed from a ship in Star Wars.
The zecOO is a Japanese-made motorcycle that has a cyborg-like profile, alien-shaped windshield, and carbon fibre fenders. It’s also packed with an advanced motor that allows it to accelerate from 0 to 60 in just 3 seconds. The zecOO looks mean and is engineered thoughtfully, created for a comfortable ride with an incredible handling capability. And if he ever gets tired of turning into a giant war plane, this motorcycle HAS to be the vehicle of choice for Megatron in the next Transformers movie.
The Light Cycle
The only good thing about TRON: Legacy was the cool-as-hell light cycles. They sparked-off a huge trend and pictures of garage-built light cycles inspired from the movie started making rounds everywhere. But while these were all just DIY hobby projects, Parker Brothers Choppers has created a full-size, street-legal, electric motorcycle based on this. It is called the New Tron and it lives up to all your wildest sci-fi fantasies.
