"Chill at the Beach Capitol"
The capitol of Goa, the city was named Panjim by the Portuguese that had arrived here way back and their mark on the city is evident throughout Panjim's streets and buildings and let's not forget its awesome churches. Lying on the Peninsula, the Mandovi river calls Panjim its home and cruise boats are visible floating on top of it in the most magnificent manner. Hosting numerous cafes, street bars and Latin Quarters, Panjim is just lit, almost always! A city of India that is heavily influenced by Portugal, what's not to love about the place! Panjim is one of those places that is full of life but yet maintains its composure.
Places to See
- Sun bathe in some of the best beaches in India, Miramar and Dona Paula Beach. Also being the closest of beaches in Panjim. Being only 3 km and 7 km away from the Panjim City Center, the sunsets that these two beaches provide are some of the best you can find in the Country.
- Look out for the Flea Market that comes up at Saturdays at Baga beach. Also the Wednesday Market at Anjuna Beach is pretty well-known and is a great one-stop shop for all your needs.
- Stand in awe while witnessing the monumental Church of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception. Built in 1541, and reconstructed somewhere in the 17th century, this Church houses the second largest bell in the state which weighs around 2250 kg.
