McLeodganj, the most frequented suburb of Dharmsala, the winter capital of Himachal Pradesh, is called Little Lhasa for because of the large population of Tibetan refugees and monks here. McLeodganj is located 480 km from Delhi and it takes about 9 hours to reach McLeodganj. McLeod Ganj was named after Sir Donald Friell McLeod, a Lieutenant Governor of Punjab. The Magic View café which falls en-route the trek is a cute little hill-side café which provides trekkers a cool hangout to take a break from the trek.

Another attraction of the place is the St. John Church. The Anglican Church is located in the forests of Ganj, The church was built in neo-Gothic style in the year 1852. The site also has a memorial to the British Viceroy Lord Elgin. It is known for its stained glass windows in Belgian style, donated by lady Elgin.

The Dal Lake, located 3 km away from McLoedganj and is a popular tourist attraction. The lake is called the Jewel of Himachal. The shore line of the lake is encircled by a boulevard lined with Mughal era gardens, parks, houseboats and hotels. When the winter temperature drops to around -10 degrees or so, the lake freezes becoming even more beautiful. The Bhagsu falls, a 10 minute ride from McLeodganj are beautiful falls offering a beautiful and scenic view. It is a hub of shutterbugs that flock here to capture the beauty on their cameras.
