The journey begins on the third day as the first two will be spent acclimatizing to the weather in Leh, you will then leave behind the charming streets of Leh for the turquoise waters of the gorgeous Pangong Tso, before riding to the picture-perfect sights of Nubra Valley. The tour will then take you to the unexplored beauty of Turtuk before giving you a chance to ride the highest motorable road in the world, the Khardung La pass, on your way back to Leh.
You could not have missed peeking out of the window at the Himalayas. A piece of advice from us, keep yourself hydrated and take medication on the flight to acclimatize your body to the high altitudes or you might experience adverse impacts of altitude sickness. The pickup arrangement would bring you to the hotel, where our team will assist you at checking in. It is Sunday for you; take rest instead of wandering the city. Let your body accept naturally the new environment. We will meet again in the evening to meet and greet the whole group followed by ride briefing and team formation.
Leh - Local Sightseeing (100 Km)
Rest day for leisure. Wake up late and after breakfast enjoy your day. Explore the main attractions in the city. On this day you are free to explore Leh, visit markets and Gurudwara Patthar Sahib, Magnetic Hills, Hall of fame, Shanti stupa, Thiksey Monastery, Alchi Choskor Monastery, Likir Monastery, Leh Royal Palace, and local Tibetan market. Dinner will be served at the Hotel. Enjoy your overnight stay at the hotel.
Leh - Pangong Lake (180 Km)
After breakfast, the group proceeds to the famous point (3 Idiots) at Pangong lake, enjoy the photo shoot at the lake. We will stay at the camps at the lake. It is simply breathtaking. The camps are all fixed and very comfortable. Under the night sky and with other campers enjoying the best night of the trip.
Pangong Lake - Nubra Valley (150 Km)
Today we are riding on an incredibly moody road with a wide variety of terrains, changing every few kilometres. The road to Nubra will confuse you whether to look on the road or the beautiful view of an oasis in the high altitude desert.
Nubra - Turtuk - Nubra (160 Km)
Hunder (Nubra Valley)- Turtuk- Nubra Valley. Enjoy a yummy organic breakfast in Hunder and explore near by destinations- Hunder to Turtuk is nothing less than exceptional. Apart from being remote, Turtuk is unique for various reasons. While whole of Ladakh is a Buddhist dominated area, Turtuk follows Islam as its primary religion. Everything from apricots, apples, tomatoes, cauliflowers, and cabbages grow in Turtuk. Turtuk is a gallery of unspeakable beauty, it is a colourful portrait. The last big village before Turtuk is Bogdang, a largely Sufia Noorbakhshia dominated area, where no one was allowed to buy a television until recently. Later return back to Nubra valley. Enjoy your stay with lots of local stories of this area.
Nubra - Khardung La - Leh (130 Km)
We are leaving to witness a human-made wonder. A lot has been and is being said about Khardung-La. We also observe a 50 ft tall statue of Maitreyi (Buddha) en route. Even though the roads are broken, muddy, and narrow, there is still a road to the highest motorable road for a civilian. While you ride to the hilltop, you understand the toil it takes to build and maintain a road at this altitude; the respect for BRO reaches a new height. Your eyes glitter by looking at BRO’s board of highest motorable road, the feeling is so difficult to express. ‘Mission accomplished’ You along with many other overly enthusiastic riders run for the customary photograph with the board. After the joyous celebration, we drive downhill for Kilometers, feels scary while looking at endless downhill roads.
We are back to Leh & oxygen.
